The Quran is from God as a
guidance for humanity:
This is the Book about which there is no doubt,
a guidance for those conscious of Allah - Who believe in the unseen, establish
prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, And who believe in
what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you,
and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Those are upon [right]
guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. [Quran
2:2-5]
And it was not [possible] for this Qur'an to be
produced by other than Allah, but [it is] a confirmation of what was before it
and a detailed explanation of the [former] Scripture, about which there is no
doubt, from the Lord of the worlds. [Quran 10:37]
The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was
revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and
criterion. [Quran 2:185]
Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the
[only] guidance; and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the
worlds. [Quran 6:71]
O mankind, there has come to you a conclusive
proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light. [Quran
4:174]
[This is] a Book which We have revealed to you,
[O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darkness into the light by
permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the
Praiseworthy. [Quran 14:1]
And We have sent down to you the Book as
clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the
Muslims. [Quran 16:89]
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and
indeed, We will be its guardian. [Quran 15:9]
And when it is said to them, "Believe in
what Allah has revealed," they say, "We believe [only] in what was
revealed to us." And they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is
the truth confirming that which is with them. Say, "Then why did you kill
the prophets of Allah before, if you are [indeed] believers?" [Quran
2:91]
O People of the Scripture, why do you disbelieve
in the verses of Allah while you witness [to their truth]? [Quran 3:70]
“We have revealed for you (O men) a book in
which there is a message for you, will you then not understand?”. [Quran
21:10]
Mention of the Torah and the
Gospel in the Quran:
And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture, so do
not be in doubt over his meeting. And we made the Torah guidance for the
Children of Israel. [Quran 32:23]
And We did certainly give Moses the Torah and
followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary,
clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit. But is it [not] that every
time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did
not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another
party you killed. [Quran 2:87]
And when there came to them a Book from Allah
confirming that which was with them - although before they used to pray for
victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that
which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be
upon the disbelievers. [Quran 2:89]
And We sent, following in their footsteps,
Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and
We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that
which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous. [Quran
5:46]
Then We sent following their footsteps Our
messengers and followed [them] with Jesus, the son of Mary, and gave him the Gospel.
And We placed in the hearts of those who followed him compassion and mercy and
monasticism, which they innovated; We did not prescribe it for them except
[that they did so] seeking the approval of Allah . But they did not observe it
with due observance. So We gave the ones who believed among them their reward,
but many of them are defiantly disobedient. [Quran 57:27]
Second Coming of Jesus
(peace be upon him) in Hadith:
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be
pleased with him): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The Hour will not be established
until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he
will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be
in abundance so that nobody will accept it (as charitable gifts). [Sahih
al-Bukhari, Vol. 3, Book 43, Hadith 656]
Narrated Abu Huraira (May Allah be
pleased with him): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is,
surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend among you and will judge
mankind justly (as a Just Ruler); he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and
there will be no Jizya (i.e. taxation taken from non Muslims). Money will be in
abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah (in
prayer) will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it." Abu
Huraira added "If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the Holy Book):
-- 'And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) But
must believe in him (i.e Jesus as an Apostle of Allah and a human being) Before
his death. And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness Against them."
(4.159) [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 55, Hadith 657]
Jabir b. 'Abdullah (May Allah be pleased
with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: A section of my people will not cease
fighting for the Truth and will prevail till the Day of Resurrection. He said:
Jesus, son of Mary would then descend and their (Muslims') commander would
invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say: No, some amongst
you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from Allah for
this Ummah. [Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 293]
Shahadah (declaration of
belief):
Narrated 'Ubada (May Allah be pleased
with him): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If anyone testifies that None has the right to be
worshipped but Allah Alone Who has no partners, and that Muhammad is His Slave
and His Apostle, and that Jesus is Allah's Slave and His Apostle and His Word
which He bestowed on Mary and a Spirit created by Him, and that Paradise is
true, and Hell is true, Allah will admit him into Paradise with the deeds which
he had done even if those deeds were few." (Junada, the sub-narrator said,
" 'Ubada added, 'Such a person can enter Paradise through any of its eight
gates he likes.") [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, Book 55, Hadith 644]
Ubadah bin As-Samit (May Allah be
pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who bears witness that there is
no true god except Allah, alone having no partner with Him, that Muhammad is
His slave and His Messenger, that 'Isa (Jesus) is His slave and Messenger and
he (Jesus) is His Word which He communicated to Maryam (Mary) and His spirit
which He sent to her, that Jannah is true and Hell is true; Allah will make him
enter Jannah accepting whatever deeds he accomplished". [Riyad
as-Salihin, Book 1, Hadith 412]
Reward for Believers &
Disbelievers:
Anas b. Malik (رضي
الله عنه) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Verily, Allah does not treat a believer unjustly in
regard to his virtues. He would confer upon him (His blessing) in this world
and would give him reward in the Hereafter. And as regards a non-believer, he
would be made to taste the reward (of virtue in this world) what he has done
for himself so much that when it would be the Hereafter, he would find no
virtue for which he should be rewarded. [Sahih Muslim, Book 39,
Hadith 6739]
Anas b. Malik (رضي
الله عنه) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) thus told him: When a non-believer does good he is made to
taste Its reward in this world. And so far as the believer is concerned, Allah
stores (the reward) of his virtues for the Hereafter and provides him
sustenance in accordance with his obedience to Him. [Sahih Muslim, Book 39,
Hadith 6740]
Abu Huraira (رضي
الله عنه) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The Similitude of a believer is that of (a
standing) crop which the air continues to toss from one side to another; in the
same way a believer always (receives the strokes) of misfortune. The similitude
of a hypocrite is that of a cypress tree which does not move until it is
uprooted. [Sahih Muslim, Book 39, Hadith 6742]
Ka'b (رضي الله عنه) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said that the similitude of a believer is that of a standing
crop in a field which is shaken by wind and then it comes to its original
position but it stands at its roots. The similitude of a non-believer is that
of a cypress tree which stands on its roots and nothing shakes it but it is
uprooted (with) one (violent stroke). [Sahih Muslim, Book 39,
Hadith 6744]
Allah’s right upon His
slaves:
Narrated Mu`adh bin Jabal (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Mu`adh! Do you know what
Allah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle
know best." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "To worship Him (Allah) Alone
and to join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their right upon
Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The
Prophet (ﷺ)
said, "Not to punish them (if they do so). [Sahih
al-Bukhari, Vol. 9, Book 93: Book of Oneness, Uniqueness of Allah (Tawheed),
Hadith 470]
Narrated Anas (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever said "None has the
right to be worshiped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the
weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said:
"None has the right to be worshiped but Allah and has in his heart good
(faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And
whoever said, "None has the right to be worshiped but Allah and has in his
heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of
Hell." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Book 2:
Book of Belief, Hadith 43]
Reward of embracing Islam:
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al Khudri (رضي الله عنه):
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If a person embraces Islam sincerely, then Allah
shall forgive all his past sins, and after that starts the settlement of
accounts, the reward of his good deeds will be ten times to seven hundred times
for each good deed and one evil deed will be recorded as it is unless Allah
forgives it." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Book 2: Book of Belief, Hadith 41]
Narrated Abu Burda's father (رضي الله عنه):
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, any man who has a slave girl whom he educates properly,
teaches good manners, manumits and marries her, will get a double reward And if
any man of the people of the Scriptures believes in his own prophet and then
believes in me too, he will (also) get a double reward And any slave who
fulfills his duty to his master and to his Lord, will (also) get a double
reward." [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 7, Book 62: Book of Wedlock, Marriage
(Nikaah), Hadith 20]
Don't die except as
Muslims:
O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and
perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a
clear enemy. [Quran 2:208]
O you who have believed, fear Allah as He should be feared and
do not die except as Muslims [in submission to Him]. [Quran 3:102]
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one
God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?" [Quran
21:108]
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind.
You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah . If
only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for
them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient. [Quran
3:110]
Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or
Sabeans [before Prophet Muhammad] - those [among them] who believed in Allah
and the Last Day and did righteousness - will have their reward with their
Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. [Quran
2:62]
Islam is the only true religion:
Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those
who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to
them - out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in
the verses of Allah, then indeed, Allah is swift in [taking] account. [Quran 3:19]
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine,
and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals]
killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the
goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you
[are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on
stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining
arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have
despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day
I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have
approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with
no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. [Quran 5:3]
And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it
be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers. [Quran 3:85]
No compulsion in religion:
There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion.
The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in
Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no
break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. [Quran
2:256]
Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them
whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe. Allah has
set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a
veil. And for them is a great punishment. [Quran
2:6-7]
Message from Allah for
mankind:
And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah
as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah . But those who
believe are stronger in love for Allah . And if only they who have wronged
would consider [that] when they see the punishment, [they will be certain] that
all power belongs to Allah and that Allah is severe in punishment. [And they
should consider that] when those who have been followed disassociate themselves
from those who followed [them], and they [all] see the punishment, and cut off
from them are the ties [of relationship], Those who followed will say, "If
only we had another turn [at worldly life] so we could disassociate ourselves
from them as they have disassociated themselves from us." Thus will Allah
show them their deeds as regrets upon them. And they are never to emerge from
the Fire. [Quran 2:165-167]
O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful and
good and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear
enemy. He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about Allah what
you do not know. And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed,"
they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers
doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they
guided? [Quran 2:168-170]
Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from
darkness into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are Taghut.
They take them out of the light into darkness. Those are the companions of the
Fire; they will abide eternally therein. [Quran
2:257]
Indeed, We sent down to you the Book for the people in truth. So
whoever is guided - it is for [the benefit of] his soul; and whoever goes
astray only goes astray to its detriment. And you are not a manager over them. [Quran 39:41]
Say, [O believers], "We have believed in Allah and what has
been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac
and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what
was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any
of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him." [Quran 2:136]
The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might,
the Wise. We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them
except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who disbelieve, from that
of which they are warned, are turning away. Say, [O Muhammad], "Have you
considered that which you invoke besides Allah ? Show me what they have created
of the earth; or did they have partnership in [creation of] the heavens? Bring
me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if
you should be truthful." And who is more astray than he who invokes
besides Allah those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection,
and they, of their invocation, are unaware. And when the people are gathered
[that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be
deniers of their worship. [Quran 46:2-6]
So who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allah or
denies His signs? Indeed, the criminals will not succeed. [Quran 10:17]
Purpose of our life:
Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us
you would not be returned?" So exalted is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth;
there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne. [Quran 23:115-116]
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. [Quran 51:56]
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them
in play. [Quran 21:16]
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and
made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most
noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allah
is Knowing and Acquainted. [Quran 49:13]
If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will
remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into
Paradise]. [Quran 4:31]
Pillars of Islam:
Narrated Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with him): Allah's
Messenger (ﷺ)
said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah
and Muhammad is Allah's Messenger (ﷺ).
2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully
and perfectly.
3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) .
4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)
5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan. [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Book 2, Hadith 8]
